That sounds like a pretty good story too."

You're one of the few indie rp blogs I follow, I was just wondering if I could ask for some advice. I've never been able to successfully network well enough to indie, perhaps because I have too many social anxieties. Do you have any tips on how to get started and keep going?

ghiblirps:

OH GOSH OKAY SUDDEN RESPONSIBILITY BUT HERE’S SOME ADVICE??:

1) Do Some Research: If you’re considering playing a canon character/characters then you may want to do a little bit of research first, find out their backstory or the original writers’ intentions, just so you have something to go off when you’re first starting out. (That’s what I did for Blaine). There are some great RPH’s out there that may provide you with resources regarding how to play certain characters/types of characters, here are some of my faves that might that be able to help: @dear-indies, @nphofrph, @helpersofindie, @seblaine-rph.

But overtime, don’t be afraid to add your own interruption to your character or develop them some more! Think outside the box if you want! That could help draw other roleplayers to interacting with you, your muse and could even help keep your blog going.

2): Don’t Force/Rush Your Muse: If you’re not feeling like being online sometimes then that is a-okay! I find that my writing always seems to flow muchbetter when I actually want to be online, not when I’m here just for the sake of it. If you’re online and feeling productive and doing roleplayer things and then it suddenly just goes or drains you then it’s probably a sign that you need to take a break. Watch a movie, go for a walk, eat, sleep, whatever! Sometimes simply just stepping away from Tumblr for a few hours and then coming back online later can help the inspiration flow.

(Sidenote: I also find that listening to motivational, upbeat playlists can help and sometimes I just take note of some general ideas for replies or plots somewhere so that they’re easier to develop them when I actually feel like it).

3) We All Have Our Own Insecurities: I remember discussing the idea of creating my blog with a friend (who already had one at the time) and literally debating whether or not to make it for months because of mine. I am also socially anxious and awkward and have sent many a nervous message to other roleplayers. But you knows what? You won’t know how you feel about it until you try. We all do this for our own reasons, whether it be a hobby or whether it be for an escape from real life stuff. If you’re passionate about writing and enjoy it, I say go for it.Chances are, you won’t be alone. And if you try it for a while and then decide it’s not for you, that’s also okay. It’s your blog so you do what you want with it.

4) Be Respectful Of Your Partners: Simple. It’ll be less of a hassle and will make you’re experience of roleplaying more enjoyable.

5) Have Fun!: Please dear god do not feel like this is a job.

 –  Send a 💙 and the type of relationship you’re interested in  (platonic, romantic, hate, etc), and I’ll make a random small starter for us, smack dab in the middle of said relationship (especially if our muses haven’t interacted yet) & we can go from there. Let’s see where it takes us!
